Nagandar Lakes Trek

Nagandar Lakes is a remote high-altitude lake region in Warwan Valley, Kishtwar, within the Chenab Valley region of Jammu & Kashmir. Known for its rugged mountain terrain, alpine meadows and secluded water bodies, the area offers a glimpse into one of Kishtwar’s lesser-explored landscapes. The government of J&K also records Naganandar Sar among the water bodies of the Warwan block. The region is home to a collection of beautiful alpine lakes, including Badshah Sar (Nagender Lake), Chaanad Sar, Sitara Sar and Aattaab Sar, surrounded by rocky ridges, green high-altitude pastures and dramatic mountain scenery. At elevations of around 4,200 metres, the landscape becomes increasingly raw and remote, with clear alpine waters contrasting against the rugged mountains. What makes Nagandar particularly appealing is its offbeat and secluded character. Away from the more familiar tourist destinations, the wider Warwan Valley is known for its remote villages, alpine pastures, high mountain trails and limited accessibility. The Kishtwar district administration itself highlights Warwan among the region’s important areas for adventure and eco-tourism. Beyond the lakes, Nagandar offers an opportunity to experience the raw beauty of the Chenab region—vast mountain landscapes, peaceful surroundings, traditional village life and a sense of isolation that is increasingly difficult to find on mainstream travel routes.
