The place, at a glance

Far from the usual route. Close to what matters.

Sarbal Lake is a beautiful high-altitude alpine lake in the Bandipora region of Kashmir, reached through Kudara and lying in the spectacular mountain landscape associated with Mount Harmukh. The route from Kudara leads into increasingly rugged terrain, with alpine meadows, mountain valleys and views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. At around 3,500–3,560 metres, Sarbal offers a remote and peaceful trekking experience away from the more commercial tourist destinations of Kashmir. The lake area also serves as a base for expeditions toward Mount Harmukh, while Sheera Sar lies further along the high-altitude route. The destination is ideal for trekkers, adventure enthusiasts, photographers and nature lovers looking to experience Kashmir's alpine landscapes, pristine lakes and lesser-explored mountain trails.
